    Project Summary

Working with the design team from Scott Talon Walker, we were tasked with creating a new extension to the modular administration building at the FAS Training Centre in Finglas.

The project included construction of the two-storey extension as well as upgrading and modernisation of the canteen and kitchen. In addition, some of the training areas in the adjacent training building were altered and renovated to accommodate course syllabus updates. There were also associated works to the canteen loading bay and full landscaping of the grounds affected by the facility upgrade works.

    Special Features

    • A new cladding system which we introduced to the new extension, proved highly successful and was subsequently applied to the remainder of the building.

    Sandford Park School

    Project Summary

Sandford Park, founded in 1922 is a small private co-educational school set in 2.5 hectares of wooded grounds in Dublin 6.

Working with architect Derek Tynan, we undertook the refurbishment of the main school house, a three-storey over basement protected structure.  A traditional residential house to look at, it needed to accommodate computer and resource rooms as well as a locker room in the basement, staff and administrative space on the ground floor and accommodation for the ‘live in’ school Principal and Vice Principle on the first and second floors respectively.

The project required a complete upgrade of fire proofing M&E and IT throughout and the installation of a new lift to improve accessibility to the rear of the building.

Large sections of the roof were stripped and re tiled to accommodate the installation of  new water tanks and the chimney dismantled and rebuilt to resolve water ingress issues.  Other interventions such as lime harling to the gable wall drew on our conservation experience and skill set.

    Special Features

    • The clay Griffin ridge finial adorning the roof, an emblem of the school, was carefully removed, boxed up and sent to a UK manufacturer in order to produce (a new) mirror image of the original. Both were returned and carefully replaced in their original positions at the front of the school house to again stand sentry over the house entrance and playing fields.
